Its a delicate world we live in guys, and its getting more delicate by the moment. A world where pretty much everything we write or say, triggers an outrage and is sometimes depicted as either racist, or sexist, or “homo-sexist” or Homophobic, or politically motivated or something else. But the bottom line is that with every step you take, someone is always out there, feet out, just waiting for you to step on their toes!

Sorry guys, but I have been away for a while, because sometimes blogging (Not news recycling) actually requires that you take time out to explore and investigate your immediate environment. This way, you get to learn new stuff… And of course, some of us have to actually work too. Its not free keeping your site up, so it requires that we need to actually make some money etc, you get the idea. Bottom line is we are back and we are ready to roll :))

Guys who follow me regularly would understand that my stand on homosexuality is pretty much neutral. I don’t hate queers, but I simply see them as misguided individuals. Most importantly, I see them as people as well, misguided people. In my opinion, sexuality issues aside, they are as cool as the next guy, or girl. In other words, I am not homophobic but I am not really cool with the concept either.

A couple of days ago, a video emerged of someone, who was presumed to be the recently crowned Miss Anambra, Okeke Chidinma and another lady, “Miss Ada”, having sex… Oh, and a third cast too, a cucumber! Yup! You heard me right, a cucumber (Cucumis sativus). Simply put, a young lady who is supposed to be a role model to hundreds and thousands of Anambra ladies, was allegedly caught having sex on camera with another lady, and using a vegetable! Naughty!!

This is some pretty “amazing” stuff, of course, not in a good way. And naturally, Ms Okeke has taken to social media to debunk the claims that she was actually a cast in the said video. She had this to say, “My attention has been drawn to a concocted photograph/ video being circulated in the social media wherein my face was superimposed on an existing picture of persons engaging amorous conduct through the art of photo shopping. This act is perpetrated by hoodlums who are out to blackmail me or tarnish my image and promising career by presenting me in bad light. I wish to say that the said image is certainly not mine by any stretch of imagination”

Well, if this statement is true, the “blackmailers” must have gone through quite a great deal of trouble in getting this done and trying to tarnish this young damsel’s image, while earning nothing in the end.

I looked at some of the comments and I ended up with some really interesting views.

One guy said,”Well, this is very bad for Chidima. But can this act be the work of these Photoshop guys? If it is, she then if I were her I would just make some millions from this madness of theirs.” That’s a very intelligent point…This person encourages the Beauty Queen to make money from the raving controversy, which seems to be putting her image on the line. Wise words! Its like burning down your insured home, just to receive the insurance money! Close enough, get paid when your personality is on the line.

Another guy said, “…you cannot photoshop a video. Check the golden bangle you wore on the day you were made Miss Anambra, you still wore it in that video…..so what answer do you have for that?” In my opinion, this person believes there can never be two same bangles that look alike…After all, no one ever tried to mass produce bangles. I would have been satisfied with this guy’s opinion if he had made any reference to any distinguishable characters on her body because I don’t think I would be interested in drawing any hasty conclusions based on a piece of fashion item!

“Now I know why some women buy cucumber always“, said another guy… Yeah, how smart! So, ladies now go to the market to get two sets of groceries! One for the family consumption and the other for sexual pleasure… Please join me in congratulating this guy for bringing this to the light and remind me never to eat a salad prepared by a lady anymore.

Then another person said, “WTF Just start acting porn movies and that cucumber is not that big use a bigger one“. Well, I am no expert in agriculture and neither am I a gynaecologist but the cucumber looks large enough to me… Perhaps, since we are in need of something larger, he might as well have suggested she tried a tuber of yam, since this is how far a cucumber could go in size.

There lots of comments around the internet and I want everyone to understand that there are two issues at stake here (If she was actually involved in this video) . First is the issue of her sexuality and then there is the issue of her privacy. I am interested in the latter.

I have always taken a personal stand against ladies taking and sharing their nude pictures with their boyfriends and vice versa. So you can guess my opinion on making sextapes. What happens behind closed doors should remain behind closed doors. Its certainly a shame when stuff that should remain private are exposed. Its always scandalous. Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, and lots of other American Celebs had their phones hacked at one time all had their phones hacked and their nudes went public… I still don’t understand why people never learn. Having your nudes taken or being part of a sex video means your business could be out there at anytime and then it becomes everybody’s business!

In my opinion, given enough pressure and lots of concentration, you can always pick holes in a story filled with lies. So let’s see what we have here. We have a young, beautiful, probably smart Ms Okeke, who earlier said that her “face was superimposed” on the said video, come out and say her “blackmailers” are threatening her life.

Honestly, I think blackmailers need a form of leverage over you, which in this case, we could say is this said video. So, how do you gain leverage over someone, when they are not the ones in the video? Oh! I remember, she said it was “Photoshopped”. Seriously, how did they succeed in getting your voice at the same time while they had your face moaning in pleasure?! How about your Personal Assistant/Friend Ada, was she photoshopped too?

In my opinion, all parties in this video were/are consenting adults and they were all aware that this video was being made but what Ms Okeke and “Ada” are unaware of is that they have just become victims of a crime called Revenge Porn! Revenge porn, also known as non-consensual pornography, is the distribution of one or more sexually explicit photos of someone else, without the subject’s permission. It carries a jail term too. I guess they won’t know this because girls don’t read anymore!

For those of you who don’t know, in Nigeria, “Homosexuality” has been illegal under federal law since 1901! Yep, It has been illegal even before the nation was conceived! And according to Wikipedia, “Both male and female same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Nigeria. The maximum punishment in the twelve northern states that have adopted Shari’a law is death by stoning. That law applies to all Muslims and to those who have voluntarily consented to application of the Shari’a courts. In southern Nigeria and under the secular criminal laws of northern Nigeria, the maximum punishment for same-sex sexual activity is 14 years’ imprisonment. The Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act criminalises all forms of same-sex unions and same-sex marriage throughout the country.”

THE MMM STORY

Hi guys, its no longer news that the financial establishment, MMM in Zimbabwe has collapsed, going down with millions paid into the scheme by investors. Apparently, human beings are alway too lazy to investigate such financial schemes before getting involved. Here are a few facts about MMM.

Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (AKA MMM) takes its name from its founder, Sergei Panteleevich Mavrodi of Russia (He was to Russia, what Jordan Belfort was to the US). He founded MMM in 1989 and the scheme was declared bankrupt three years later leading to the disappearance of Mavrodi until his arrest in 2003.

According to wikipedia, МММ was a Russian company that perpetrated one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes of all time, in the 1990s.By different estimates from 5 to 40 million people lost up to $10 billion. The exact figures are not known even to the founders. The management started to count money in roomfuls (1 roomful of money, 2 roomfuls of money, etc).

It might surprise you to know that as we speak, more and more people are still getting involved in Nigeria. Some are even eager to go for the “training programmes”! When I visited their Nigerian website, I was greeted with a picture of Sergei Mavrodi. Then in the FAQ’s section, I found this;
“… MMM is absolutely legal and does not break any laws. Because there are only money transfers between private persons and nothing more.

MMM is a people community, which help each other for free, and absolutely consciously, they transfer money directly to each other, from one bank account to another, without any conditions, guarantees and promises.”

NO CONDITIONS, NO GUARANTEES AND NO PROMISES!! Call me paranoid but I believe this statement is self explanatory! The company isn’t even “promising” your back and there are no “guarantees” that you would get anything at all from this “unconditional” investment! This is absolutely ridiculous!

In the FAQ’s, I also found this “…MMM is a Global Mutual Aid Fund, World people’s Bank, Financial Social Network — or any definition whatsoever. The point is not in the title. The bottom line is that this is a voluntary informal association…”. The staff and management of MMM Nigeria put this on their website, probably because they couldn’t simply find the right words to explain their crappy scheme.

So what do these guys do with the money paid by their customers? Do they trade? Or do they lend out money to loan seekers at exorbitant rates? what do they do to earn interest for their customers? There is no insurance cover for this company, so how do investors get their money back if the company folds up tomorrow? Oh, I remember, “No Guarantees”! So you have no right to press for your capital if things go south!

My simple advise to anyone out there with plans of being part of this crappy scheme is to take a moment and think twice before making any payments. I always say,” No one gives you free money, you need to earn it one way or another.

American Football player Kaepernick refuses to stand for anthem

A US National Football League (NFL) quarterback has refused to stand for the national anthem in protest at what he sees as racial injustice.

Colin Kaepernick, who plays with the San Francisco 49ers, remained seated as the anthem was played.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour,” he explained.

Some fans booed the player when he took to the field.

But his team said they supported his right to protest, which took place as the 49ers hosted the Green Bay Packers in a pre-season game on Friday.

“We recognise the right of an individual to choose and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem,” the team said.

An NFL spokesman said players were “encouraged but not required” to stand during the anthem.

Colin Kaepernick is 28 years old, biracial, adopted and raised by white parents in Wisconsin

He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2011. He was a Former starter who led the team to the NFL’s title game, the Super Bowl, in 2013, which they lost to the Baltimore Ravens. Since demoted to back-up. His signature touchdown celebration known as kaepernicking, involving the flexing and kissing of his right bicep

He set an NFL record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback (181) in the 2012 season play-offs

Kaepernick has been outspoken on social media about race relations and is a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way,” Kaepernick told NFL Media.

“There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

He appeared to be referring to police use of deadly force which sparked the Black Lives Matter protests.

HOW HOTDOGS ARE MADE

The average business man would do pretty much anything to maximize profit at short run. Basically, this is the goal of any successful business, or enterprise, or industry. Lets look at the sausage/hot dog industry for a bit. You would feel that hundreds of thousands of cattle get slaughtered daily to provide for the large and ever-growing market for these processed meat produce, right? Well, wrong!

These company’s sometimes use pretty much any animal, to produce their processed products and unfortunately, you just can’t tell. What I mean is that if for instance, you are a muslim and your religion forbids you from eating pork, but you love eating Sausages/Hotdogs, there is a high possibility that you have been eating pork without your knowledge.

The images below show the unhygienic conditions in which these processed meat foods are made, and the inhumane way these animals are treated before processing.

A cocktail of animals, which might include dead pigs and piglet, dead horses, dead donkeys and even dead dogs are being grounded whole, using the machine above. Then treated and processed to what we eat. I would have uploaded a video but these pictures pretty much speak for themselves, about the terrible process and steps involved in meat processed food types.

EAT THAT ONION! The Health Benefits of Onions

Onions, like garlic, are members of the Allium family, and both are rich in sulfur-containing compounds that are responsible for their pungent odors and for many of their health-promoting effects.

Onions are healthy whether they’re raw or cooked, though raw onions have higher levels of organic sulfur compounds that provide many benefits, according to the BBC. A 2005 study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that there is a high concentration of flavonoids in the outer layers of onion flesh, so you’ll want to be careful to remove as little of the edible part of the onion as possible when peeling it. For example, a red onion can lose about 20% of its quercetin and almost 75% of its anthocyanins if it is “overpeeled.”

Because of their use in cooking around the world, onions are among the most significant sources of antioxidants in the human diet, according to a 2002 report in the journal Phytotherapy Research. Their high levels of antioxidants give onions their distinctive sweetness and aroma. These antioxidants and flavonoids may help promote heart health, reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of cancer, in addition to a load of other good things.

Onions can help increase our bone density and may be of special benefit to women of menopausal age who are experiencing loss of bone density. In addition, there is evidence that women who have passed the age of menopause may be able to lower their risk of hip fracture through frequent consumption of onions. “Frequent” in this context means onion consumption on a daily basis!

Onions’ sulfurs may be effective anti-inflammatory agents, according to a 1990 study in the journal International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology. Quercetin has been found to relax the airway muscles and may provide relief of asthma symptoms, according to a 2013 study in the American Journal of Physiology. Although, onion is not as well researched as garlic in terms of specific inflammatory health problems like rheumatoid arthritis or allergic airway inflammation, this allium vegetable has nevertheless been shown to provide important anti-inflammatory benefits.

Unlike the research on garlic and its cardiovascular benefits, research specifically focused on onion has mostly been conducted on animals rather than humans. In animal studies, there is evidence that onion’s sulfur compounds may work in an anti-clotting capacity and help prevent the unwanted clumping together of blood platelet cells. There is also evidence showing that sulfur compounds in onion can lower blood levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, and also improve cell membrane function in red blood cells.

Onion has repeatedly been shown to lower our risk of several cancers, even when we consume it in only moderate amounts. “Moderate” generally means 1-2 times per week, even though in some studies it has been used to mean up to 5-6 times per week. Colorectal cancer, laryngeal cancer, and ovarian cancer are the cancer types for which risk is reduced along with moderate amounts of dietary onion. For other cancer types, however, moderate intake of onion has not been enough to show significant risk reduction. For these cancer types—including esophageal cancer and cancers of the mouth—daily intake of onion is required before research results show significant risk reduction.

The fiber in onions promotes good digestion. Additionally, onions contain a special type of soluble fiber called oligofructose, which promotes good bacteria growth in your intestines. The phytochemicals in onions that scavenge free radicals may also reduce your risk of developing gastric ulcers, according to the National Onion Association.

The chromium in onions assists in regulating blood sugar. The sulfur in onions helps lower blood sugar by triggering increased insulin production. One 2010 study in the journal Environmental Health Insights revealed that this might be especially helpful to people with people with diabetes. World Jollof Rice Day – How To Prepare Jollof Rice

So yesterday was World Jollof Rice Day; yes, you read right. People may wonder why we need a special day to celebrate a dish that is like pure water to some who eat it several times a week. But if it’s been a while since you tasted the orange stuff, then here’s a simple recipe to get your lips oily and your tummy satisfied.

Ingredients:
• 10 tomatoes
• 5 tatase
• 5 pieces rodo
• 1 cooking spoon tinned tomato puree
• 1 kg beef
• 2 red onion
• 5 cloves garlic,minced – optional
• 4 bay leaves
• 1 tbsp. Dry Thyme
• 1 tbsp. Curry powder
• 4 Seasoning cubes
• 5 cups rice
• Salt to taste
• Canola oil
• 1 cup green peas and carrots
• 2 cubes Maggi

Directions:

1. Wash the rice thoroughly and place in a pot. Add enough water just enough to cover the rice and par boil for 10 mins. Wash the parboiled rice with cold water, drain and set aside.

2. Wash and blend the tatase, rodo, tomatoes and 1 onion. Add the tomato puree. Set aside.

3. Wash, season and boil the beef for about 15 – 20 minutes or until soft (make sure you have enough beef stock to cook the rice)

4. Slice the remaining onions and garlic. Pour the canola oil into a pot, fry the onions and garlic for one minute and then add the pepper mix. Stir fry for about 5 minutes.

5. Pour in the beef stock and mix well. Add the remaining seasoning (Maggi, curry, thyme and salt).

6. Add the rice to the pot containing the pepper mix. Turn with a wooden spoon and allow to cook until water dries up. If water dries up and it is still hard, add some more water and allow to cook until soft

7. Leave the rice to burn underneath till you begin to smell it. Once it completely dries up at the top, turn off the burner and open the pot slightly for the vapor to evaporate. Your jollof is ready…serve!

Man On Trial For Attempting ATM Fraud

Fifty-four-year-old Emmanuel Oti, who allegedly attempted to defraud a first generation bank in Ibadan of N7.1 million with an ATM card, is standing trial before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Oti, a resident of Gbwom, Jos, was arraigned for attempt to commit fraud.

The accused and a man still at large allegedly conspired to commit the offence on August 15 at 4.00 p.m. at a branch of Union Bank at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Prosecutor Sunday Ojeleye told the court that the accused and his accomplice went to the bank to demand for an Automated Teller Machine card.

He said, “It was discovered by a bank official that the account for which Oti was requesting ATM card belongs to another customer of the bank.

“The account owner (name withheld) had in his account about N7.1 million.

“The bank official discovered that the picture and signature of the account owner were different from Oti’s.’’

He said Oti requested for the ATM card to enable to him to have access to the account and withdraw all the money in it.

He said, “The official alerted bank’s security guards, who arrested him and handed over to the police.”

The offence contravened Section 422 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The accused, if convicted, may be sentenced to seven years imprisonment according to the Criminal Code.

Chief Magistrate Abdulateef Adebisi granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adebisi said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused and adjourned the case to September 21 for hearing.

Teenager Jailed For Allegedly Raping His 5 Year-Old Niece

A Kano Magistrates’ court on Monday remanded Musa Abdullahi, 17, in prison custody for allegedly raping his 5-year-old niece. Abdullahi was charged for rape, an offence which contravened section 283 of the penal code.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Suleiman Danladi, told the court that Jamilu Zaki from Kazaure LGA in Jigawa reported the case at Danbatta Police Division Kano, on July 2. Danladi said that on July 1, at about 5 p.m., the accused, who resides in Birnin Kara Village, Danbatta LGA, decieved and lured his 5-year-old niece into a room at their family house in Birnin Kara village.

He said that the accused had unlawful sexual intercourse with the 5-year-old girl on different occasions and gave her N10. The prosecutor said that the victim was rushed to Danbatta General Hospital for treatment. The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till Aug. 25 for mention.

Man Gets 6 Months Imprisonment For Attempting To Steal Car With Remote

A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced, Matino Jang, to six months in prison for trying to steal a car with remote. The Area Court judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, however, gave Jang an option of N50,000 fine.

Kagarko said he gave the convict an option of fine because he was a first time offender. Jang of Masaka, Nasarawa State, was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft.
The Prosecutor, Patrick Ebong, told the court that Bernard John of the Nigerian Air Force in company of Bature Nicholas reported the matter at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCT Command on July 1.

Ebong said that Jang tried to forcefully open Nichola’s Prado jeep parked at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja, on June 28. He further said that Nicholas had coincidentally sent John to remove the car from where he parked it when he caught Jang in the act.

Ebong said Jang opened the car with its remote and dishonestly jumped into the car with intent to move the car when he was immediately arrested. He said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code. Jang pleaded guilty and prayed for leniency.
